Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival
2024-02-29

Last week, our Senior Mixed Choir and Junior Choir participated in the Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival competitions, masterclasses, as well as choir clinics, in which internationally established conductors came to our school to work with our choirs.

Our Senior Mixed Choir performed Mendelssohn's Richte mich, Gott and “Jasmine”茉莉花 arranged by 尹明伍 and was awarded a Silver Award. Our Junior Choir performed  “只有和聲” composed by Dr. Steve Ho (何祟志博士) and “I Got a Robe”, a spiritual rearranged by E. Osterman, and also received a Silver Award.

Ms. Meng-Hsien Peng visited our Senior Mixed Choir and worked with us on Mendelssohn's Richte mich, Gott. She is a renowned conductor and artistic director in Taiwan. She serves on the board of the Taiwan Choral Association, judges international choral competitions organised by the German International Cultural Exchange Foundation, and is the artistic director and conductor of several choirs, including the Müller Chamber Choir and the Taipei Symphony Orchestra Chorus.

Ms. Elise Bradley worked with our Junior Choir on performing our upcoming Music Festival pieces – “A Cradle Song” and “I Got a Robe”. She is a passionate musician, award-winning conductor, internationally respected educator, adjudicator and clinician. Ms. Bradley previously served for many years as the Head of the Music Department at Westlake Girls’ High School in Auckland, New Zealand. She founded and conducted the school’s renowned treble choir, Key Cygnetures from 1991-2007, and directed the New Zealand Secondary Students’ Choir from 2001-2007, both of which won numerous national and international awards.

Our students greatly enjoyed their coaching and improved significantly under their guidance.

Thanks to the arrangement of HKICF, our choirs benefitted tremendously from the teaching of these masters!
