To celebrate the school’s 60th anniversary, the Thanksgiving Service was held on 10th December in the School Hall. Only the F.1 and F.6 classes joined the physical service, but the whole school was immersed in the solemn and celebratory ambience, thanks to the professional school choir and orchestra. Honourable guests included alumni, former teachers and principal.
The officiant reiterated the importance of a serving heart by saying the Bible scripture Matthew 25: 40, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ The scripture and the sermon by Bishop Kwok Chi-pei underscored the role of servant leaders at school and in real-life contexts; and are reminders for Jubileans to live out the school motto: We are not born for ourselves alone.
Dr. Sitt Wing Hung, graduate of 1977 and Dr. Chan Sum Yin, graduate of 2001 addressed the audience by expressing their love and gratitude for the school. Feeling thankful for teachers’ guidance and inspirations, they recalled how they aspired to dedicate themselves to the medical field. Ho Chun Pui from 6D shared his best moments at school and how life at BHJS turned him a student ready to practise the love of the Lord in future.
The service ended in cheers. The participants left the hall, filled with bliss and blessings.
