Multi-faceted Excellence Scholarship: Or Ka Ying Ice 6B
2020-08-28

The Home Affairs Bureau launched the Multi-faceted Excellence Scholarship (MES) to recognize students who excel in sports, arts and/or community services. Every year, around five Hong Kong students are awarded MES in each area of achievement. We are delighted to announce that our Jubilean, 6B Or Ka Ying Ice, was one of the successful candidates this year.

The selection process of the Multi-faceted Excellence Scholarship is highly competitive. Each secondary school principal nominates two HKDSE students of their school to compete for the MES. The nominees are required to submit their resumes, self-recommendation letters, internal and external recommendation letters. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview with the Assessment Panel comprising well-respected figures in the fields of education, sports, arts and community service. After multiple rounds of interviews, Ice was chosen as the winner of MES.

Each awardee will be recommended to the relevant universities for consideration and granted a scholarship of $170,000 for the four-year undergraduate study in local universities.

Ice’s significant contribution to society was highly appreciated. She is the founder and Chairman of the executive committee of Dream Companion, an international NGO which provides financial and tutoring support to underprivileged students. She is also the Chairman of Hong Kong Joint School Welfare Union, participant of QSHK Service Leadership Training Project and Vice-chairman of the Moral and Civic Education Prefect Team in School. She participated in Hong Kong Inter-school Subdivided Flats Exhibition Tour, volunteer service for Taiwan vegetative patients, and voluntary teaching services in Cambodia and Qingyuan. Ice indeed lives up to our school motto, “I am not born for myself alone.”
