Music and Dance Night serves as a platform for showcasing the musical and dance talents of our students, featuring choir, orchestral and dance performances.

In academic year 2018-19, some of the performances were conducted by student leaders, including a song from the Wind Band, all choir performances and the finale, which are normally led by our conductor, Mr. Jack Cheng, or our Music teacher, Mr. Alston Ng.

Hilton Kwok 5C, Evelyn Chan 5B, Anna Kwan 3D, Jonathan Ho 5D, Tom Chan 5E and a young alumnus, Leonard Chow, received training and guidance from Mr. Ng during different rehearsals in June and July to improve their conducting performances.

In addition to this, three new instrument ensembles were introduced into the programme together with a piano solo. The instrument ensembles, although newly formed this year, obtained wonderful results in their competitions this year, and their performances received very positive and encouraging feedback. Ulani Lo 4A, who played Abbey's Variation Op.1, astounded the audience with her spectacular performance on piano.

The Dance Team, also performed 3 beautiful dances, namely 花溪樂, 花舞 and 活寶石.

The Symphony Orchestra played Pictures at an Exhibition Mov’t 9 & 10, followed by Look at the World and Jerusalem, which were joined by the School Choirs and conducted by Leonard Chow, who was once the Chairperson of the Senior Mixed Choir when he was in Form 5. This brought the concert to an extraordinary end leaving the audience feeling uplifted and proud of all our musicians and conductors.

音樂劇

On the night of 15th July 2017, the grand celebration of our school’s 55th anniversary came to a rousing conclusion with a dazzling display of light, sound and colour – a large-scale musical production of the well known musical “The Sound of Music” by Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein II, Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. A combined effort of over 100 students and teachers created a lively theatrical treat with elements of playfulness, adversity, faith and love.

“In union, there is strength.”
Completely new to the world of large-scale musicals, our teachers found the music arrangement and stage management work fun and challenging. They also had strong determination and belief in our students’ ability in tackling the problems they faced.

Mr. Alston Ng
"It is possibly one of the biggest achievements of my life up till now. Knowing that musicals consist of drama performance as well as orchestral accompaniment, coherence between the two and the cooperation among all parties was crucial. Different parties trying their best to work things out with mutual trust and understanding was not as easy a task as it may sound. There were times when things didn’t go very well, however, it was a lesson for me to learn. It was a blessing that all parties were able to work as a team and deliver an extraordinary musical. It gave me great confidence and encouragement for my future endeavours. "
